A Dose of Pretty

{Two new orchids who make my day a bit prettier.}

Editor’s Note: To celebrate the end of summer, I will be taking a short break to soak up all the sun, sand, and last days of summer, but will be back soon with lots of pretty new content. x

It’s been a busy summer filled with travel, heatwaves, delicious food, pretty flowers, and weekend getaways. My biggest highlight was seeing a supernova – within the pinwheel galaxy – and my least favorite part has been the 100-plus degree days. I’m excited to spend the weekend at home, making delicious meals {like a strawberry shake to keep cool}, clean up my closet to prep for fall weather {the cool weather could just be wishful thinking in this heat though}, and take time to garden. I hope you have a great one as well!

{Date night dinner with some of my favorite appetizers: polenta fries + fried ravioli.}
{The sweetest squirrel who I spotted splooting as I worked. Needless to say, I was very happily distracted for awhile.}
{A pretty fountain + rose garden on our walk near the state Capitol.}
{Seeing my very first supernova – within the Pinwheel Galaxy – in June.}
{Our first pinkish peach rose of the season.}

Homemade Strawberry Milkshake + Strawberry Whipped Cream

With hundred plus degree days, I find myself hiding in air conditioned comfort daily, trying my best to avoid stepping outside after 7 a.m. {aka, an impossible goal}. So, to keep us cool the other afternoon, I whipped up a batch of strawberry milkshakes, topped with strawberry whipped cream. While I rarely indulge in milkshakes, this homemade version has changed my mind on having this decadent drink so infrequently. The summer berry made the drink feel so seasonally appropriate, while the ice cream made it feel so indulgent for a weekday afternoon. And when topped with a strawberry whipped cream + garnished with a fresh berry, it makes for the prettiest petal pink drink.
