How-To: Pineapple Honey Mask

I’ve been obsessed with pineapples ever since I was a child, but until the other day, I had never considered using it in a face mask. Since my biggest skin care issues are anti-aging {you can never start too early} and brightening, I knew I needed to mix in pineapple, coconut oil, and a raw, local honey. The pineapple helped brighten my  skin, while the coconut oil moisturized it, and the honey added in antimicrobial properties. I loved that this edible mask smelled like a tropical dessert, and that after ten minutes, a thin application of it made my skin more glowy than my usual one-hour spa facials do. I’ve officially added this into my beauty repertoire for my weekly at-home facials through the warmer months for something that feels luxe and like a vacation in the tropics combined.

Ingredients
{For a Two-Ounce Container}
3-4 Pineapple Chunks, mashed
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
1 Tablespoon Honey {Preferably raw, local honey}

How to Make it
1. Mash the pineapple pieces until they are smooth.

2. Add the coconut oil to the pineapple and mix it in.

3. Next, add the honey and mix it in.

4. Place in a container to store.

5. Enjoy!

How-To: Peppermint & Eucalyptus Lavender Salt Scrub

When it comes to making your own homemade beauty products, I’m all for it. I strongly believe that we are not just what we put in our bodies, but also what we put on our bodies. Using fresh, natural, and organic ingredients, I love being able to recreate a spa item at home for a fraction of the cost, and that is customized exactly the way I want it to be. I’ve been making homemade soaps since I was in the single digit age range, but as I get older, I have learned how important a good salt or sugar scrub can be for exfoliating your skin. Since salt scrub is one of those things I use in the morning {to be energized} and at night {to relax}, I decided to combine a salt scrub made with epsom salts, olive oil, fresh lavender and lavender water {lavender blossoms and water boiled down}, and two essential oils – peppermint {refresh} and eucalyptus {relax}. In the jar I used six layers, starting first with the epsom salts with an 1/8 cup olive oil, one drop each of the peppermint and eucalyptus essential oils, one spritz lavender water, and one lavender blossom, repeated. The end result is something that not only looks pretty to display on my bathroom counter, but smells amazing as well.
