When I first discovered this dress, I was surprised by how much I was drawn to it. While I’m yet to meet a color I don’t enjoy wearing, I didn’t think I’d ever be drawn to wearing something with so many bold colors and patterns. But I love how the simple, strapless black bodice complements the bright colors below. I paired it with nude pumps, a black clutch and floppy hat, oversized sunglasses, and a red lip for a day spent in wine country recently and loved how summery, yet put together it felt. And the most special aspect about this dress for me is that it reminds me of, and feels like it pays homage to, Missy {my sweetest lab who was my first daughter and also helped raise me}, thanks to the bright colors that give it such a happy and fun vibe.

Tied to the Side

Recently, I stepped out for brunch with some friends. Since I had spent the majority of the weekend in yoga pants and an oversized sweater {I swear it is colder at the end of March than it was on Christmas Day in SoCal}, I was excited to change into something that felt a bit more fun and creative. I opted for this marbleized maxi dress I purchased years ago in Santa Barbara, and paired it with a golden South Sea pearl pendant, bow-topped heels, and a lime green clutch. And to keep it from feeling too causal for our al fresco meal, I tied the dress on one side, making it feel a bit more fitted and just a little more fun.
