A Dose of Pretty

{My kind of brunch date: al fresco dining to enjoy the pretty weather + a vegan Cauliflower Benedict & a rose London fog tea latte.}

While this week’s photographs actually span the last month, this week was equally as beautiful. The weather truly felt like spring {which began today at 2:01 am PST, and also marks the astrological new year and is national proposal day} with each day alternating between stormy and sunny. I managed to be productive during the day so I had time to do more creative endeavors at night. And while I love trying new restaurants and ordering in takeout, I really loved spending more time in the kitchen making yummy dishes. Cooking, after all, has always been a love language for me, but as an adult, {ahem} laziness + other priorities have sometimes taken over my ability to prioritize it.

This weekend I am excited to have some quality time with my three boys, spring clean my closet, and work on a DIY art project that has been on my list for awhile now. I hope you have a great one as well! x

{Stargazing in the evening to enjoy the 7 planet alignment at the end of February: Venus is just to the left of the bright light, while Mercury is quickly setting below near the trees. Uranus was apparently between the two but not visible to the naked eye.}

{Walking around the San Diego marina with my new favorite drink: coconut lavender lemonade.}

{Enjoying the extra perks of my massage membership by taking a spa shower with all the pretty products for my hair, face, and body.}

{Watching the sunset over the ocean from my hotel room is now my new favorite way to watch the sun rise or set.}

{One of the best ways I spent a recent Monday afternoon: cooking food for a friend’s meal train to help her family after a recent health diagnosis.}

Spring To-Do List

{Bubblegum pink blossoms + bright green leaves & afternoon light.}

Tomorrow is the first day of spring, and while the new year may technically begin in January, to me the real start has always been in mid-March {and September}. There’s something so much more refreshing about beginning the new year as the weather warms up, when the flowers are in bloom, and love is in the air. To say that spring is one of my favorite seasons is an understatement {tied with fall, of course}. From the mellow weather, my birthday {and now my son’s as well}, to celebrating graduations and weddings or simply going to wine country every weekend because the weather is simply beautiful, there’s something so inherently wonderful about the season of love. I’m excited to spend the next couple of months spring cleaning my life, exploring new places, near and far, making more meals at home {with fresh produce, of course}, and watching my houseplants {hopefully} rebloom. Here are some of the things on my to-do list for this spring, and here are my past seasonal to-do lists here.

  1. Travel to new places, constantly.
  2. Try some new-to-me cuisines such as Moroccan and Jamaican food.
  3. Making tea lattes + desserts with edible flowers.
  4. Practice my conversational French & Italian {just enough to order a meal, get directions, and shop}.
  5. Declutter and spring clean the entire house {and my life}.
  6. Wear bright lipstick, nail polish, and make up for a fun pop of color.
  7. Pack a picnic to have in wine country.
  8. Take a day trip to the beach.
  9. Take plenty of afternoon naps.
  10. Practice my calligraphy and drawing skills.
