How-To: Brown Sugar & Rose Lip Scrub

Many years ago I bought this Sugar Lip Polish on an impulse. I fell in love with it instantly, making it apart of my nightly lip treatment – exfoliating my lips and then piling on a moisturizing lip balm before bed. But I wanted to make a homemade, food-grade version of this since it seemed like such a simple project that could focus on two of my passions: beauty and wellness. I made sure to just use a touch of coconut oil for moisturizing my lips, but plenty of brown sugar for the yummiest of exfoliations. Finished with a touch a rose absolute essential oil, this lip scrub smells divine, tastes decadent, and leaves my lips looking and feeling their absolute best. And with the start of the Lunar New Year last weekend and with love month, a.k.a. February, right around the corner, this felt like the perfect like the perfect way to show my lips some love and start the year of the water rabbit in an irresistible way.
Ingredients:
1.5 Ounces Brown Sugar
1/8 Teaspoon Coconut Oil
1-2 Drops Rose Absolute Essential Oil

How to Make it:

1. Add half the brown sugar into your container. Then, add half the coconut oil to the sugar.

2. Top the brown sugar/ coconut oil combination with the remaining brown sugar. Press the sugar in place to get a flattened top.

3. Add the remaining coconut oil and spread it over the top of the brown sugar’s circumference. Note: This will allow the oil to evenly spread over all of the sugar.

4. Add one to two drops of rose essential oil and store in your fridge.

5. Enjoy!

A Dose of Pretty

{White roses on our afternoon walk,}

Somehow, no matter how much I love a holiday weekend {and honestly, who doesn’t?}, the week that follows always feels like it drags on. After an extra long weekend filled with food, fun, travel, and a bit of rain {that California so desperately needs}, this week felt less like I was playing catch up with work and more like I needed to perfect my morning routine. I found that cleaning one part of the house every morning made me feel productive in a way that experts claiming making the bed each day can make you feel {spoiler: making the bed doesn’t work on me}. And it made it so that the house felt a bit sparkly and new everyday since I’d work on it in bite sized pieces {cleaning and organizing for 30-60 minutes a day can be pretty doable after all}. And while the weekend won’t be quite as long this weekend, I’m excited for a sunny couple of days at home, making pizza for date night, going to the beach to catch a sunset, catching up with friends over oat milk tea lattes, and lighting some candles each day. I hope you have a great one as well!
